Great Product Find! Amy's Light & Lean Soft Taco Fiesta


I don't eat a lot of frozen, processed meals, but I will admit, there are times when they are needed to simplify life.  I have long been a fan of a few of Amy's products...especially the tomato bisque soup they make...but this was the first time I saw a "lightened up" product line from them.  I was anxious to give it a try. 

They make several entrees in this line, and I had a hard time deciding which one to try.  I settled on the Soft Taco Fiesta.  I reheated it in the microwave, according to the manufacturers directions. 


What came out was not that far off from what was pictured on the front of the box.  I mean, of course the box picture looked a bit better than my actual meal...but one should never judge a book by the cover, right?

The description of this meal as stated on the box is as follows:  "This unique bowl, while lower in fat and calories than our other Mexican dishes, is just as tasty.  We've placed a soft corn tortilla between a layer of brown rice, shredded vegetables and sweet corn and a layer of black beans and cheese.  We cover it all with a blend of our tomatillo and ranchero sauces to make this flavorful, but not too spicy, 220 calorie meal."

I couldn't tell where the cheese was, but I will take their word it's in there....

Overall, this was a tasty lunch.  I like the tomatillo and ranchero sauce combo and once you dig in, you find the corn tortilla and under that, some flavorful rice.  I did bulk this meal up with some steamed broccoli on the side, as I do most frozen meals.  I don't think eaten alone, it would be all that satisfying, but for 6 points+ it was definitely worth it.  With the broccoli on the side and an orange to finish, the entire meal clocked in at 6 points+.

I will say, this meal was a bit on the high side price wise...but maybe that is just my store.  I will be buying this again...but not that often because of the price.

  1. Ow! I didn't know Amy's was making lighter meals- I can't wait to try one! Amy's is a little pricey, but I always think its worth it because they use such FABULOUS ingredients! Thanks for the review

  2. I love grabbing amy's meals, mostly because they're one of the few that makes them gluten free, but they're actually tasty. I especially love the enchiladas- the sauce is really really good.

  3. My favorite frozen meals are Amy's and Kashi but they are pretty pricey so I only buy them occasionally. This one sounds good!
