Out of the Kitchen 12/3/13

Wow!  and it's December already!!  How did that happen?

Well...my brand new tree from Costco is up.  Still needs decorations.  It's got LED lights, and they are a nice warm color.  No blue hue!

I'll be the first to admit, holiday decorating is not my thing.  I like to look at all the pretty decorations, but I don't like the work to make them happen, nor the work to stash it all away.   I am pretty minimal when it comes to decorating..so who knows?  Maybe I'll pass on ornaments this year...:)

I hope everyone had a nice LONG Thanksgiving weekend.  I did and enjoyed spending time with family.  Here is a bit of the buffet spread from our Thanksgiving, in case you missed it on Facebook.  I had 19 mouths to feed this year!

I made a new recipe for the dessert buffet from Kim's Cooking Now... Cannoli Crumb Pie.  Only instead of making it in a pie plate, I made it in an 8x8" square glass baking dish and cut it into squares.  It's a crumb textured crust with a layer of ricotta cheese, sugar and chocolate sandwiched between it.  It was delicious!  Thanks for the great recipe Kim!

I received my prize for winning a giveaway on Makin it Mo'Betta's blog last month.  So excited when I opened it!

I'm most anxious to try the slow cooker packets and I love that they are all natural now.  Thank you Kim and McCormick Spices!

I chose a winner for MY giveaway for eatKeenwa Krunch yesterday.  In case you missed it...congrats to Lili Y!!  I am certain you will LOVE this product!

In the coming month, I know I will be spending A LOT of time IN the kitchen making goodies such as cookies.  Lots and lots and lots of cookies.  I like to give cookies away as holiday gifts and I must admit...baking is one of the joys of life for me!  You can find several cookie recipes right here on Renee's Kitchen Adventures by looking in the recipe index  under "Cookies" or on my Pinterest recipe index under "C" is for Cookie.

That's all I've got for now...stay tuned for a great product review this week and a super easy weeknight meal recipe...that is perfect for this time of year when we are all busy with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season!

  1. YUM! What a spread! Your brussels look awesome (as do all the desserts). I'm pretty minimal on decorating too. I'm trying to make more of an effort for Kay ;)

  2. Your holiday meal looks wonderful! That was a lot of people to feed - but sounds like it all went well.

I used to go all out for decorating but the past couple of years I just haven't felt like it. We aren't even going to get out our pre -lit tree this year. Like you, I don't like all the work of putting everything away after the holidays anymore. I guess I am just tired - and need a little break from all the work surrounding the holidays. This year I am trying to do less - and enjoy more!

    1. Really, I hate the putting away part too. You are correct...often, less is more!
